Sounds Terms

Diegetic -

• we see the source of the sound
• dialogue - tone of voice/accent/phrases
• back ground noise e.g. TV/radio
  
• ambient sound - natural sounds

Non-diegetic -

• sound that is added in
• sound effects
• soundtrack - character motifs (Jaws)
  

Asynchronous sound -

• sound that is a contrast/contradicting the images (face off)
  

Sound Bridge -

• Smooths the gap between scenes.
